The storage of medal records has always elicit an an uncomfortable feeling within my stomach. I am always aware and concerned about privacy and prying eyes peering into my files with nefarious intent. I am undecided, but feel that we are evolving as a society and such data should be immediately accessible and maneuverable, catering to our medical needs and the way we now travel throughout the states and internationally.

Traditionally, we are accustomed to seeing hundreds of color coded manilla folders decorating medical offices. These folders are familiar, always there, a physical tangible representation of our medical issues. Folders only accessed at the time of a visit or a medical consult. But, they are not easily stored, transportable, or accessible. Electronic storage of medical records is the wisest course of action even if government mandated. The privacy and security of our records, any electronic data, out there in the world in the numerous data bases for the most part, is secured. In essence, I/we are a paranoid society.
